Mars - Sevvai
Mars - Sevvai
This shloka is dedicated to the planet Mars, also known as Mangala. Here’s a breakdown of its meaning in English:
• Dharaṇī garbha sambhūtam: Born from the womb of the earth.
• Vidyut-kānti samaprabham: Radiant with the brilliance of lightning.
• Kumāram: The youthful one.
• Shakti hastam: Holding a weapon or power in his hand.
• Mangalam: Auspiciousness or the beneficent one.
• Pranāmāmi: I bow down to.
The shloka essentially praises Mars as a powerful, radiant, and auspicious deity and planet.
For the scientific mind, it should be know that the Planet Mars was born as an offshoot of a collision of some extra terrestrial body with Earth. Hence the reference ‘ born from the womb of the earth’.
It’s not a coincidence that they humans on earth believe and seek ways to find life in Martian land.
Living on Mars is definitely a challenging prospect, but it’s not impossible! The planet has a thin atmosphere, mostly carbon dioxide, and the temperatures are extremely cold. There is also a lack of liquid water on the surface and lower gravity compared to Earth.
However, scientists are exploring ways to make it habitable. This includes creating habitats with controlled atmospheres, sourcing water from the Martian soil or ice, and using local resources to produce food and oxygen. It’s a big challenge, but definitely an exciting area of research!
Salutations to Mangal or Mars or Sevvai.
