Happy Bhogi, Thai Pongal & Makara Sankranti šŸŒžšŸŒ¾

Saį¹…krānti marks the sacred transition of the Sun—its passage from one zodiac sign to another—most auspiciously when it enters Makara (Capricorn), beginning Uttarāyaṇa, the Sun’s northward journey and the path of light (Devayāna).

Celebrated as Thai Pongal in the Tamil month of Thai, this festival honours the first harvest, where newly reaped rice overflows as Pongal—a symbol of abundance, gratitude, and nature’s generosity.

From Bhogi’s bonfire of renewal, to Sun worship on Pongal day, Maattu Pongal’s reverence to cattle, and Kaanum Pongal’s family reunions, the festival weaves together Sun, Earth, water, fire, air, space, art, food, sharing, and joy.

Kite flying reminds us:
Be light within, grounded by ancestral blessings, guided by the five elements—and you will soar.

Known across cultures as Uttarayan, Sankranti, Maghi, Maghe, Pongal, Songkran, Thingyan, and more, this is a universal celebration of light, life, and renewal.

May the Sun’s northern journey inspire clarity, prosperity, gratitude, and spiritual upliftment in all our lives.
